Silverstein Properties, the developer that's kept quite busy with the new World Trade Center, is expanding its presence in the corporate apartment market. Silverstein paid $82 million for the Beekman Tower Hotel yesterday, and they will convert the place into 176 studio, one- and two-bedroom furnished "upper upscale" units that require a 30-day minimum stay. It will be called Silver Suites Residences at Beekman Tower and cost $25 million to renovate. [NYT]
