The Lower East Side's longest-running eyesore, the Orchard Street Hell Building, is an eyesore no longer. Bowery Boogie has photos of the building being demolished by two remote-controlled demolition robots, though a by-hand smashing from the neighbors might have been more fitting and cathartic.
Once the never-finished building has been fully demolished, construction on the Hotel Indigo will begin. Issac & Stern Architects designed the 26-story, 350-room hotel, which originally had a completion date of this year. Here's what it will look like, whenever it's eventually finished:
