The Verizon wires that run under FiDi were damaged in the Hurricane Sandy flooding, and now Verizon says landlords are making repairs tougher by refusing to let workers in?or by charging Verizon fees to enter and install fiber optic cables. Verizon has filed a petition to state regulators naming six specific buildings, including 2 Gold Street and 11 Maiden Lane. Landlords say the buildings haven't yet been re-occupied, so don't need Verizon service, or weren't damaged, and thus don't need upgrades. [NYT; previously]
