Passively Designed 255 Columbia Launches Sales From $900K

New, 20 comments

One of the two dozen new developments to hit the market this fall has, well, hit it. There were few details about the enigmatic 255 Columbia Street except that it would include passive house design and private terraces on all the units. Now that sales have launched, however, here are the details: 13 apartments across seven stories, with two per floor topped by a full-floor penthouse with a 1,000-square-foot deck. Asking prices for the two- through four-bedroom residences start at $900,000 and range to more than $2 million. (Common charges are surprisingly low: $450/month or so.) The design is indeed of the passive house variety, carried out by experts in that field Loadingdock5. Hence a canopy made of reclaimed wood and a "green living wall" in the lobby. As for amenities, there is private storage for each apartment, a bike room, and a shared 2,000-square-foot garden. Developers expect a winter 2014 move-in.
