Whole Foods has big plans for the not-so-jolly green giant, the building at 1095 Sixth Avenue. The upscale supermarket is considering leasing 36,000 square feet of the building's ground and second floors to test out a new store concept, one that "focuses on prepared foods and eating stations geared to diners and not just shoppers." Whole Foods has a way of positioning itself as a neighborhood gamechanger, and that trend may continue here: an Equinox gym, a Touneau store, and three upscale restaurants have recently signed leases in 1095 and 1065 Sixth Avenue, so Whole Foods is part of a new wave.
