Take one foreclosure auction, add 21 months, and boom, you've got a 120-unit luxury rental building in Bushwick. That's right, at space age-sounding Colony 1209, you're living in the future, one in which "luxury" and "Bushwick" can be used in the same sentence. The building's studios start at $1,750/month, one-bedrooms at $2,000, and two-bedrooms at $2,725. There are also some 1.5BR rentals at 1209 Dekalb Avenue with extra space for a home office or playroom. Every apartment has hardwood floors, washer/dryers, stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops, and bathrooms with deep soaking tubs. The amenities (well, and the uber-"artsy" teaser site) are where this project really starts to feel Brooklyn-y: besides a typical landscaped courtyard, gym, roof deck, and lobby lounge, there's also a screening room with a pool table, plus a so-named "speakeasy" lounge that has rehearsal studios, a pinball arcade, and shuffleboard courts. Then it's back to the de rigueur details with a 24-hour doorman, laundry room, and on-site parking. Eight units are currently available, sans fee, via broker aptsandlofts.com, with more to hit the rental market after the building officially launches into orbit next week.
