Of all the housing damaged last year by Hurricane Sandy, 17 percent of the units were co-ops and 8 percent were condos. Boards fixed the immediate problems, but now they must figure out how they should spend their little remaining money. Fix the lobby or storm-proof the basement? In some cases, like the garden-style Glen Oaks Village in Queens, the insurance company would only pay for half of the repairs, so now it's up to the board to figured out how, or if, they should pay for the rest.
