The World's Fair that brought us the celebrated Unisphere in 1964 didn't actually follow any of the official World's Fair rules?it was the U.S.'s second world's fair in 10 years, it charged rent to exhibitors, and it ran for two six-month spans when the rules allowed for only one. And Robert Moses made the whole situation worse by flying to the Bureau of International Exhibitions to plead for the fair's recognition. When the BIE said no, Moses trashed the organization in the press, and the BIE then asked member nations not to participate in the fair. Click through to The Atlantic Cities for the rest of the saga.
