As if taking over 57th Street with tall towers weren't enough, Gary Barnett and Extell are redeveloping eight parcels on 14th Street between Avenues A and B, kicking out affordable retailers in the process. The latest to get booted is Rite Aid, which follows long-standing neighborhood institutions like Blarney Cove, Rainbow, and the ABC Animal Hospital. Bedford + Bowery also reports that Stuyvesant Stationery, between First and A, is closing after 23 years in business because "the place will be demolished." Who, pray tell, is developing there? Tell the tipline. [EV Grieve; previously]
