Penn Station Wire

New, 7 comments

In a new op-ed, former transit official Robert Previdi (yeah, who knows) tackles the debate to "fix" Penn Station. Since time, money, and potential inter-agency compromises are in short supply, Previdi lays out some suggestions for improving the blighted transit hub without building a new one. For one, consolidate customer information (like departure boards and information booths) and ticketing for all three train lines to avoid the ridiculous "every tub on its own bottom" mentality. He does agree that the station needs a makeover ("Good luck if you're not familiar with the station and its catacombs") but doesn't think starting from scratch with starchitects is the answer.
