Baby Steps

Ten days before the developers' deadline to break ground and eight years after the plans were first announced, something has?brace?actually happened at the Flushing Commons site. Developers TDC Development International and The Rockefeller Group have filed for a permit to begin work at the site. Of course, this permit will only allow the developers to prepare for the first phase of construction by spending $3.5 million to alter a parking lot. The first phase, with 160 apartments, retail/commercial space, a park, and a YMCA, will?fingers crossed?eventually follow. [Crain's; previously]
