Whole Foods Reveals Its Glassy Williamsburg Store

New, 31 comments

Talk of a Whole Foods for the hipster haven of Williamsburg began more than two years ago, and now, finally!, we have a rendering, showing a glassy building that will grace 240 Bedford Avenue at the corner of North 4th Street. The look is not that different from a January 2011 rendering of a proposed Marshall's store for the site. Real Estate Weekly (via Racked NY) reports that the grocer landed a $45 million construction loan to begin transforming the property's long-stalled steel shell into a supermarket. Some may lament the continued yuppifcation of the 'hood, but as Racked NY points out, with big names like Urban Outfitters and J.Crew moving in, "Williamsburg's time in the sun as an indie microcosm has officially ended."
