Two Brooklyn arts groups opened the doors to their new facility today, adding a new destination in the Downtown Brooklyn-BAM Cultural District. Located within the historic 1918 Strand Theater, BRIC House is a 40,000-square-foot multi-disciplinary arts complex with a new 3,000-square-foot public gallery, flexible performance space, and artist studio. Leeser Architecture, a firm familiar with the arts community, lead the $41 million renovation, which included expanding UrbanGlass with a new storefront and gallery. The project broke ground two years ago, and BRIC House officially opens to the public today with three days of free community programming.
