Construction Pending

Surprise, surprise: with a day to go until the shovels-in-ground deadline for Flushing Commons, the developers have gotten an extension. The project?to construct a mixed-use complex that will, in the first phase, include 160 apartments and retail and commercial space, as well as a park, with another 450 residential units to follow?has already suffered through eight years of delays. The new deadline calls for the developers to close on the property by the end of the year and to break ground "shortly afterward." We'll believe it when we see it. [Crain's; previously]
