Wired recently gave three megafirms?SHoP Architects, Snøhetta, and Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill?a big challenge: play with Legos. To be more specific, they asked them to "go crazy" with the set, which contains 1,200 white and clear pieces, but no instructions. Snøhetta froze its creation in a block of ice, SOM defied gravity, and SHoP revealed that Legos are basically the foundation of their firm. "It's why I became an architect, quite frankly," said SHoP co-founder Gregg Pasquarelli. [Wired; all Legos coverage]
