Brooklyn's soaring rents?median rent jumped 4.6 percent in August to $2,850?are causing developers to approach the borough with a different attitude than they do condotastic Manhattan. Approximately 15,300 new rental units are in development throughout Brooklyn, compared to just 1,700 new condo units. Manhattan, on the other hand, will see only 5,850 new rentals over the next two years and 4,000 new condos. [Bloomberg; all market reports]
