Just in the nick of time, an anonymous donor has proffered $1 million to help displaced New Yorkers continue to stay in hotels while their homes are still in various stages of post-Sandy disarray. Almost a year after the storm roiled residences, about 300 people still take part in the hotel-stay program, which has cost $70 million thus far. FEMA reimbursed the city until Monday, and rooms were covered through today. The program was intended to be temporary, but as of now there is no alternative. [NY1; previously]
