Renderings Show Atlantic Yards' New Dean Street Neighbor

New, 22 comments

Forest City Ratner's Barclays Center and Atlantic Yards megaproject spurred quite a few changes in the surrounding blocks, including plans for a new apartment building at 215 Flatbush Avenue. The property, formerly home to the Bergen Tile Company, is located at the intersection of Dean Street, directly across the street from the first Atlantic Yards tower. Developer PRD Realty began the permitting process last year, and now Brownstoner published the first renderings of the six-story, 55,000-square-foot rental building. Department of Buildings documents show 53 apartments, but the plans have yet to be approved.

By law, PRD is required to include 26 parking spaces in the development, but last year the developer said that wasn't feasible. They had to go before the Board of Standards and Appeals for a variance to allow them to build with less parking. Construction may not yet be moving forward, but Ripco Real Estate is already marketing the 9,875-square-feet of ground floor retail. Above, a rendering of the building next to its neighbors.
