Nearly one year ago, Governors Island began searching for developers and tenants to call the park home, and the Trust has now chosen three finalists who will adaptively reuse the historic park's buildings. Quadratec and the Colonnade Group plan to turn Buildings 111, 112, and 114 into a day spa; CIEE will build a campus for 250 international exchange students; and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, which was one of the island's first tenants, plans to expand its space. The Trust is currently in lease negotiations will all three groups. It's unclear when construction could soon begin. The park recently completed 30 acres of new parkland, and in 2015, an additional 10 acres of hills will open.
