Leonardo DiCaprio Buys Into 'Health-Centric' Village Condos

New, 30 comments

After flirtations with One Madison, the Puck Penthouses, and about a million other swanky NYC residences, Leonardo DiCaprio has finally settled on one of the five units at the 66 East 11th Street, a boutique Greenwich Village residential development that combines green and sustainable building practices with wellness-type health-centric features for its residents... making this very expensive new-to-market building the ultimate trend mash-up of all time.

The Post reports the sale was in the multimillion dollar range, but newly independent superbroker Dolly Lenz didn't specify which apartment he bought. Developed by Delos, available residences include three three-bedroom apartments ranging from $14.5 million to $15.5 million, but there's also a 4BR/4.5BA penthouse for a cool $50M and a four-story, five-bedroom, six+-bath "mansion" that's asking $45.M. Peruse all available images of the project, and some floorplans, in the gallery above and below.

DiCaprio is apparently so big a fan of this "wellness real estate" thing?which has basically touted its healing powers and life-extension capabilities, and been developed with input from Columbia University Medical School and the Mayo Clinic?that he's also become an investor in Delos. If it gives any indication, Deepak Chopra is also on the board. The building is a conversion from an 1897-built dress factory and boasts a ton of ridiculous-sounding trademarked features; the brokerbabble cites it as "the pioneer of Wellness Real Estate™ and the WELL Building Standard,™ [with] the world's-first WELL Certified™ residences."

In plain English, well, there's not a lot of plain English to describe this project, so here goes the brokerbabble:

Imagine 50 plus built-in wellness amenities, including vitamin C-infused showers, purified air and water, posture-supportive flooring, a kitchen herbarium, and dawn simulation provided by a proprietary circadian lighting design. Then add access to Donna Karan's Urban Zen wellness concierge to curate and coordinate your daily wellness experiences, all set in a spectacular condominium building. Yes, that's right "optimal lighting to match your natural circadian rhythm throughout the day." An obviously necessary amenity for movie stars with odd sleep schedules.

In a charitable twist, Delos developers Paul and Peter Scialla?Wall Streeters turned eco- and wellness-conscious developers?say they will collaborate with the Clinton Foundation to build 40 homes in Haiti for every unit they sell, so doing the math makes it add up to 200.

DiCaprio provided the Post with a boring boilerplate response about his moves: "Delos creates innovative building designs that both enhance human health and improve the environment." Well then.
