Coney Island Watch

The city is looking for a developer to bring Coney Island's iconic rocket ship ride back to life. The Economic Development Corporation issued an RFP for someone to rehabilitate the 71 foot-long, 14,000-pound Astroland Amusement Park ride and display it "at a site accessible to the public in a way that enhances the Coney Island visitor experience." Built in 1959, the ride was one of the first ever "space voyage simulators." [McBrooklyn; previously]
