Santiago Calatrava was confirmed as the architect for the new Church of St. Nicholas near the World Trade Center site at the end of October, and it seems that officials are already preparing for the total cost to exceed the projected $20 million budget since Calatrava is notorious for cost overruns. The 2016 opening date also seems optimistic, as Calatrava has a problem with deadlines, not to mention the fact that the church doesn't even own the property yet. [NYP; previously]
