In December 2012, a developer tried to bypass all city departments and convert the Pencil Factory building at 74 Kent Street into apartments, but he was slapped with a Stop Work Order. The LPC finally reviewed the plans this October, but it seems that the developer is giving up altogether. The building is now for sale for an undisclosed price. Maybe a new owner will decide to, you know, abide by the law and have better luck getting plans approved. [Brownstoner; previously]
