Despite opposition from a local politician, a $225 million complex for 125th Streethousing the headquarters of civil rights mega-org National Urban League, a black history museum, and retail shopsis basically a go. A state board approved the plan yesterday, but vocal detractor State Senator Bill Perkins said he will sue to protect some small businesses the development would displace. (Meanwhile, project backers have promised low-interest loans and compensation to those owners.) Expect construction as early as 2015, and chalk it up to just one more sign of the big changes headed for 125th Street. [NYDN; previously]
