The city has ordered the owners of several Bed-Stuy properties to repair their abandoned buildings, as they have been causing problems for area residents. The Department of Buildings reportedly issued summonses to the owners of 874, 876 and 880 Lafayette Avenue. In the past few months, the buildings have flooded, attracted vermin, and become homes for squatters, and one of the neighbors affected said that flooding caused several thousands of dollars worth of damage to her basement. According to the summonses, if the properties are not repaired by December 3, the buildings could be demolished or seized by the court. [DNAinfo]
