Our new feature, Monday Mansion, examines the most interesting mega homes on the market in the far reaches of New York. Have a listing in mind that we're missing? Tell us about it. To the outer boroughs we go!
Built in 2006, this 6,273-square-foot (give or take—the listing and property records differ on this point) waterfront residence in Tottenville, Staten Island is definitely very large. That's one good thing you can say about it. It also has many mansion-y qualities, such as Juliet balconies, four fireplaces, an enormous front door, and a limestone-floored foyer with a spiral staircase. Those features, as well as the double-height living room and multiple curved, cushioned window seats, go toward justifying the $3.9 million price tag and also distract from some of the house's lesser features, such as the huge whitewashed chimney and the weird upstairs bedroom with the olive green accent wall/nook/thing. The mansion sits on 14,935 square feet of land. Worth the price?
