The Harvest Dome has washed up on Riker's Island, floated in Inwood, and sailed to Governors Island. This weekend, it finally docked in the Gowanus Canal. Would we call that progress? (By now, even the Times has noted the orb's saga.) The 700-pound piece (click photo for big!), spearheaded by two staffers from SLO Architecture and made out of discarded umbrella frames and two-liter soda bottles, will be anchored near the Third Street Bridge for six months in order "to call attention to the toxic canal and its potential for renewal."
