Work is finally moving forward on 85 Flatbush Avenue Extension. It will no longer be an Ismael Leyva-designed spaceship-like building, but rather a very normal structure by Gene Kaufman (sigh). Foundation work is now underway, and someone spray-painted what looks like the word "DEAD" on one of the concrete walls, which seems fitting for the project. It will hold 69 apartments and 171 hotel rooms. [NY YIMBY; previously]
