And now, the latest from Racked NY, shopping and retail from the sidewalks up...
1) Midtown: Don't be alarmed by the lady taking a bath in the middle of Grand Central. The pop-up exhibit is a display for the launch of makeup artist Sonia Kashuk's new line of bath products.
2) Midtown East: Oscar de la Renta has returned to Bloomingdale's for the first time in 20 years with a 1,000-square-foot shop inside the department store. The concept is unique because the shop is actually a rent-paying tenant, not just part of the store.
3) Williamsburg: North Brooklyn welcomed the fittingly hipster boutique Gant Rugger, which opened at North 6th and Berry Streets. In addition to clothing, the store has a "tasting table" with a working kitchen that's feature a slew of local Brooklyn products.
4) Upper East Side: Luxury goods brand Hermès recently signed on for a 10-year lease on Madison Avenue at a whopping $1,700 per square foot. That makes the store one of the highest paying tenants on the corridor, and rents are only expected to increase.
