Buying an apartment off a floorplan may a thing of the past, now that drones are used to scuttle up in the air and shoot panoramic photographs of the views from particular units years before they are even built. This particular strategy has been used to capture the potential vistas from sky-high homes in 432 Park, Jean Nouvel's MoMA tower, and 56 Leonard. A company that specializes in this remote-control wizardry, Chicago-based SkyPan, says most of its business comes from New York, where developers' pockets are deep: "It's not inexpensive to commission a big crew and station three separate robotic platforms."
