Trucks and backhoes are already hard at work on the triangular site that will be One Vandam, a 14-story glass 'n' limestone condo building that launched sales last month. The construction site is in plain view from the sales office across the street, which contains a model kitchen, bathroom, powder room sliver, and lots of renderings. Interested buyers can also peruse not only floorplans but scrollable, digital 3D models and photos of the views from each of the 25 units for sale. Studio DB's Britt Zunino gave us a tour, pointing out the many custom pieces that have been designed for the interiors, mostly by New York-based or U.S.-based companies, from the metal hardware on the apartment doors to the faucets and fixtures. "It'll feel 'downtown' but still be really polished," she says of the building's planned lobby and its polished concrete floors, though the same could be said for the design concept in general. Neighbors weren't thrilled about the project back when it was first announced, probably because it bought air rights off a nonprofit next door, but God's Love We Deliver is using the $4 million to build a new facility on its site, so maybe everyone wins? Apartments currently on the market range from $1.54 million for a 1BR/1BA to $15 million for 4BR/4.5BA duplex Penthouse B.
