The Times has some more details about the ongoing restoration of the historic Loew's Kings Theater that the city is undertaking. Apparently, before work started the Theater was incredibly gross. The project manager "recalled the slurping sound his boots made in a greenish growth three inches thick on the balcony carpet and the sight of huge white mold rings ... When Mr. Grinnell returned from the Kings, [his wife] instructed him to disrobe before he entered the house. 'It was that toxic,' he said." [NYT; previously]
