A 114-year-old "castle" in the Bronx may not be long for this world. Community groups wanted to turn the Gothic building, formerly Mott Haven's P.S. 31, into live/work spaces for artists, but the Department of Housing Preservation and Development says the landmark is unsalvageable. It's been vacant since 1997, and in recent months, the facade started to crumble. The Landmarks Preservation Commission will hear its case on December 17. [NYDN]
