RED HOOK—Brooklyn's Community Board 6 voted unanimously to disapprove a Board of Standards and Appeals application to allow a private school to be built at 556 Columbia Street, not currently zoned for school use. The 1,000-seat Basis Independent Brooklyn would cost $23,500 in annual tuition, with no present plans for scholarships for local kids.
