At noon Friday, Mayor Bloomberg and his entourage and probably oodles of media will shuffle onto a 7 train to celebrate the line's westward extension from its current Times Square terminus to 34th Street between Tenth and Eleventh avenues. Though the line won't actually open to the public till mid-2014, the Bloombergian ride is a ceremonial gesture toward the support he gave the $2 billion project, five years in the making, which provides public transit access to the nascent Hudson Yards megaproject.
