Coney Update-O-Rama

Despite opposition from area residents, the Landmarks-condoned plan to convert the crumbling Childs Restaurant building into an eatery, park, and amphitheater is likely to become a reality. The City Council's Land Use committee has already approved it, and the full council is likely to follow suit tomorrow. In official parlance, it would be called the Seaside Park and Community Arts Center, and co-developer iStar Financial says it will help stimulate residential development in the area (which, not coincidentally, it is also working on).
