Christmas Is Canceled

New, 9 comments

Actually, just the Christmas lights are canceled. And only in Greenpoint. For the first time in 40 years, the North Brooklyn neighborhood will not have holiday lights hanging above Manhattan Avenue. The lack of lights isn't because some NIMBY Scrooge hated them, but rather because local officials didn't raise the necessary funding. Last year's display cost $20,000, and the Greenpoint Business Alliance, which used to fund the lights, has since shutdown. [DNAinfo]
