This 795-Foot Flatiron Tower Will Be Taller Than One Madison

New, 25 comments

Details about Ian Bruce Eichner's planned Flatiron District tower have been leaking since the project was announced back in May. Thanks to NY YIMBY, who spotted new diagrams and drawings filed with the Department of Buildings, here's the most up-to-date look at the 795-foot, 60-story behemoth planned for 41 East 22nd Street between Madison and Fifth avenues. The main takeaway is its height, which will trump its resurrected neighbor—the 600-foot-tall, celeb-attracting super-tower One Madison—by a hefty margin, but there's also the 17-foot cantilever over the building to its west. The Kohn Pedersen Fox-designed tower is 77 feet taller than its original filings. Of its circa 80 planned apartments, YIMBY adds: "What's certain is that pricing will be astronomical, given the large floor-plans and relatively unobstructed views." Now, who just said neighborhood-changing tall towers should get more a more public review process? Oh, yeah.
