NYCHA's controversial plan to lease parts of public housing developments to private developers in order to pad its budget is stalled, and will be until Bill DeBlasio takes office and makes a decision on the matter. And he's come out opposed to the move in the past. Beyond the usual meetings and complaints, City Council and NYCHA residents have filed lawsuits "to halt any deals before the inauguration." If any sort of land-lease proposal does pass, it would be revised to include things like affordable housing and an assurance of jobs for residents. [NYT; previously]
