The very hopeful, very well-intentioned Queens residents hoping for their own High Line face a roadblock in their idealistic pursuit, now that Community Board 5 voted 36-2 to investigate returning the 3.5-mile abandoned stretch of LIRR track to its former use: transportation. The board holds that the area is underserved by public transit; QueensWay advocates counter that rail reactivation isn't cost effective and that neighbors will change their minds once the in-progress feasibility study is released.
