The Curbed Cup is Coming! Name 2013's Best Neighborhood!

New, 83 comments

It's now December, which means it's time for holiday parties, the Rockefeller Center tree, and, most importantly, the annual Curbed Cup competition! For the last nine years, Curbed readers have chosen the New York City neighborhood of the year, granting it the Curbed Cup trophy. But before voting can begin, we need to know the neighborhoods that are worthy of such a prestigious honor. So while the fake pure gold trophy is being forged, we're looking for contenders.

A full 16 neighborhoods will face off in this year's Curbed Cub tournament, but which 16 should they be? Drop your nominations in the comments of this post or e-mail them over to us. We don't just want neighborhood names—please tell us why your neighborhood deserves to vie for the top spot. Did a new development command record-breaking prices? Did the retail scene start booming? Did a game-changing restaurant open? We want to know what happened in your 'hood in 2013 that makes it worthy of inclusion. Here are the past winners:

2012: Hudson Square
2011: Downtown Brooklyn
2010: Harlem's FDB
2009: Williamsburg
2008: Madison Square Park
2007: Long Island City
2006: West Harlem
2005: Prospect Heights
2004: Fort Greene

Which neighborhood will claim the year's ultimate honor?
