We're down to the final four in the Curbed Cup, our annual award to the New York City neighborhood of the year. This is our first final four matchup. The polls will be left open for 24 hours, and the final showdown for the prestigious fake trophy will begin tomorrow. Let the eliminations continue!
It's time to kick off the Final Four matchups in the Curbed Cup, our annual battle for neighborhood of the year. The two highest seeds left in the tournament are NoMad and Greenpoint, who are face off after NoMad booted buzzing Chelsea out of play and Greenpoint defeated dark horse/audience favorite Governors Island.
On the one hand, the fast-gentrifying (gentrified?) Brooklyn enclave has got a giant waterfront transformation looming in its futurethough Greenpoint Landing and 77 Commercial Street just got approved, so those towers are years from completion. Meanwhile, the neighborhood a hotel name spawned has played host to a development boomlet of residential buildings as well as hotels, with more on the way.
