The real estate industry is worried that mayor elect Bill de Blasio will squash development when he takes office in January, but sources say the Department of City Planning, which has the most direct impact on development, won't look very different. Of the people being considered to replace Amanda Burden as department chair, three of them currently sit on the City Planning Commission under Bloomberg. One expert said "the changes are not going to be nearly as great as people assume." It's worth noting that de Blasio's transision team also includes development heavyweights Douglas Durst and Forest City Ratner CEO MaryAnne Gilmartin. [TRD; previously]
