The site of the fatal Metro North derailment on December 1 now has an automatic braking system that will trigger the breaks on any speeding train. The curve, located near the Spuyten Duyvil station in the Bronx, has seen several bad accidents over the years. The MTA announced plans to install the automatic system at four other sharp curves along the railroad as well, and they cut the speed limit by 20 miles per hour. [WSJ; previously]
