Preservation Watch

Preservationists of the Lower East Side are reinvigorating a campaign they began in January to landmark the Eastern Dispensary Building at 75 Essex Street. The 1890 building has been on and off the market for several years, and thanks to its location directly beside the SPURA megaproject, it's ripe for redevelopment. Thus, preservationists want to protect before it's torn down or drastically altered. A "Request for Evaluation" has been submitted to the Landmarks Preservation Commission. [Bowery Boogie; previously]
