The first section of One World Trade Center's spire was installed on January 15, and a tipster sent along a couple photos showing the recent progress. There are 18 sections of the 408-foot-tall spire, and installation was expected to take three months, so it's almost at the halfway mark. When it's complete, the spire will bring the tower to 1,776 feet, making it the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. We called the Port Authority for an update on the exact status, so we'll update when we hear back. More photos are welcome on the tipline.
