Camera Obscura for Mad. Sq. Park; Firehouses Landmarked

FLATIRON DISTRICT?The LED-bedazzled Buckyball wil be departing Madison Square Park at the end of the week, and the next installation, a reimagined, large-scale camera obscura, will debut on March 1. Sandra Gibson and Luis Recoder created a 10-foot by 10-foot structure called "Topsy Turvy" that "will utilize the physical properties of light to capture images of the surrounding Flatiron District in real time. OUTER BOROUGHS?The Landmarks Preservation Commission designated five firehouses through the city as NYC landmarks. Dating to the later 19th and early 20th centuries, the new landmarks are located in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens. You can learn more about the firehouses and see photos here.
