1) Chelsea: Whole Foods and Trader Joe's already have locations near 766 Sixth Avenue, where Fairway is thinking about opening its thirteenth location. Grocery war! But also, potentially, a catalyst for neighborhood retail growth.
2) West Village: There's a new J. Press York Street store at 304 Bleecker Street, but it opened so suddenly that label overlord J. Press didn't even realize the store had opened. We assume they're aware now.
3) Sunset Park: There's a "quiet boom" happening in the manufacturing-zoned real estate in Sunset Park, and businesses are flocking there from Dumbo, Long Island City, and Manhattan. Chocolatier and Hudson Square-booster Jacques Torres is the latest to sign on.
