The state's Court of Appeals has ruled in favor of the New York City Housing Authority, deciding that the authority can evict tenants for lying about income. Tenants who believe they can't be evicted would have little incentive for telling the truth about their earnings, the judges argued in a unanimous opinion, and the court can't always act as if public housing is a tenant's last resort before homelessness.
