One Waverly Place resident is upset that Mario Batali's Babbo, located on that quiet residential block, brings too much noise to the area. Think idling limos, discarded wine bottles getting picked up by garbage trucks, and the like. Babbo is allowed to operate because of a special waiver, which was up for renewal at last night's Community Board 2 meeting and seemed likely to pass·until Mr. Crankypants (aka retired ESL teacher Nuri Akgul) took the mic and the vote was postponed. What do you think: should the upscale eatery be allowed to go on? [Eater NY via DNAinfo]
